[1:25]  1 tn Grk “to take the place.”

[1:25]  2 tn Or “of this ministry.”

[1:25]  3 tn Or “the task of this service and apostleship which Judas ceased to perform.”

[1:25]  4 sn To go to his own place. This may well be a euphemism for Judas’ judged fate. He separated himself from them, and thus separated he would remain.

[16:29]  5 tn Grk “he”; the referent (the jailer) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[16:29]  6 tn Or “and prostrated himself.”

[16:29]  sn Fell down. The earthquake and the freeing of the prisoners showed that God’s power was present. Such power could only be recognized. The open doors opened the jailer’s heart.

[28:5]  7 tn BDAG 737 s.v. οὖν 4 indicates the particle has an adversative sense here: “but, however.”

[28:5]  8 tn Grk “he”; the referent (Paul) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[28:5]  9 tn Grk “shaking the creature off…he suffered no harm.” The participle ἀποτινάξας (apotinaxa") has been translated as a finite verb due to requirements of contemporary English style.
